This beautiful Victorian Electrotype box was made circa 1880, and is of excellent quality. It is lined with velvet, and originally intended as a silver plate jewelry box (or silver plated Jewellery box, if like me you are British!). The lid bears a patriotic scene of Richard the Lionheart returning from the crusades. The sides bear scenes of hunting, children playing, and on the front an Eastern dancing scene, continuing the crusades theme.
This fine Victorian jewelry box is of very good quality and excellent condition. It is silver plated copper, and the copper is showing through only very slightly on a few of the high points. It measures 4.5 inches long by just under 4 inches deep. It stands 3 inches tall.
A beautiful Victorian silver plated jewelry box, and a very good example of a Victorian Electrotype.
